Default Re: Metric 200 - What do I need to make one last

I recently had the rear end of my car apart to change the ring and pinion, and when I was re-installing the driveshaft, I noticed that the output shaft of the McClay THM200 in the car seemed to be free to move around an awful lot. I immediately checked my spare McClay THM200, and the output shaft was exactly the same. With the driveshaft installed, the movement was all but gone. Never noticed that degree of movement with Powerglides or THM350s. Does the driveshaft slip yoke stabilize the output shaft that much, in a THM200?

Yes, my first experience with the output shaft alarmed me too......

I've had units from both Turbo Action and Jack Sepanek and both companies will build you one that will last and get you into the winners circle .

Mike, Yes, with no removable tailhousing , there's no support bushing in the rear, besides the very end one . Cost-cutting, no doubt.

X3. Scott McClay.!
I use one in my AA/SA ZL1 427
it 60'S 1.28 at 3540 lbs!
Scott is a great guy to deal with and knows how to build a 200 metric to last!

I guess Tehachapi IS farther west than San Dimas , a little bit ;-)

I happen to know most all on these guys mentioned, so it's hard to recommend one over the other..Besides, that wasn't the o/p's question.

There's a racer in Kansas that's a pretty good builder too..

it's not, unless its a stocker or a generic 350 you get some weight savings a nickel on a Super Stock at least a dime on a Stocker But .005 is a lot we spend a lot of time and money looking for a tenth
