Buying a vehicle in Canada and bringing it back
A friend has found a Peterbuilt in Canada that he is interested in buying. Its a US model that the owner bought and took there and had been using for a couple of years hauling freight both there and here in the US. So it should meet all of our laws here. Our question is how much of a pain is it to buy a vehicle that is owned and regestered in Canada. And then bring it across the border and get it titled and regestered here in the US. I know there are some guys here that live on both sides. If any of you can give advise I would appreciate it.

Re: Buying a vehicle in Canada and bringing it back
It should not be that big of a deal. You will want to do more checking on your side meaning U.S. ( I am located in Canada). On duties and taxes etc.
You should just need a bill of sale (Canadian side does not use titles) and I think the border likes 48-72 hours notice before bringing a vehicle across To be on the safe side you should check with a broker on your end I bring and have brought a variety of vehicles from The U.S. to Canada so I am more familiar with crossing the opposite way. I would check with a broker even if you end up brokering yourself cheap insurance you would not want to be compounded at the border know guys it has happened to, you will wish you never seen the truck Hope that helps a little anyway |

Thanks guys I will check into all of that stuff. Normally niether one of us would consider this but it is a very good deal on what appears to be a very nice truck.
Thanks again Rob |
