Yup I got out of active duty 1st week of November, 67..Driving my 63 GP home from Fort Knox , across PA, all night long... must have heard that song every hour on WABC, New York.
By the way , the amazing strings and horns on the original were arranged by Marty Paich...father of David Paich , TOTO.

How bout a little sax to wake us up. You guys probably don't listen to much jazz but have a listen to Ernie Watts on this sax .... He's kind of a John Force of that instrument ...

Johnny and Jimi both touched a chord in all of us. Listening to them we all had soul and were a single color. In our best days we still are and music ushers in where it can be that way every day.

Appreciate this thread so much, keep it up guys.

The original version was just too good to leave it out here:

Cruising around Kingman, Arizona waiting for my draft number to be called. Used to listen to KOMA out of Oklahoma City and Wolfman Jack, broadcasting out of Mexico.

Cruising Kingman....must have been exciting as my small hometown in Iowa.

Music.......I haven't seen anyone mention "Sweet"...."Fox on the Run" . That was a 70's group.

Yep, it was folksy but given it was the era of "muscle cars" and good rock and roll...we made due.

And I can remember the fourth of July
Runnin' through the backwood bare
And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin'
Chasin' down a hoodoo there
Chasin' down a hoodoo there

Here ya go, boys

A holiday mini-concert that I didn't know existed...
