inconsistent stop
having trouble in st Louis with dialing the car. on Sunday for instance between the morning and afternoon run the air went from below sea level to over a thousand foot and the cars ts setting would have been close if i had left the morning setting alone so i have a lean condition. the main thing is that my car is gaining atleast 250rpm on the stop starting around 3sec on for around 4. thinking i need some convertor work or a gear higher ratio. also shifting at 1sec. maybe lowering it to .7would help.

Re: inconsistent stop
check your battery voltages if you can. i run an electric stop and was having problems with consistency. after 3 races i finally found the problem. 2nd rd in st louis i went all the way down the track at 4500rpm....

Re: inconsistent stop
A little more info is needed.. do you shift while on the TS??.. my stop comes on at .1, and shifts into high at .2.. I very rarely touch the TS cruise settings, as Crew Chief Pro keeps me really close.. HOWEVER, in good weather, my graphs will show a lean condition, and I sometimes see an up to 75 rpm increase while on the stop.. sometimes this condition can be corrected by changing air bleeds.. you would have to consult your carb guru on that.. I choose to change nothing, and trust my weather station.. I use a #Stop, air throttle stop, so I'm not sure on a possible voltage problem to an electric stop, BUT, that kinda makes sense..
NOW, if I could just stay away from driver error.. LOL!! |

Re: inconsistent stop
on the stop at .2 shifts at 1sec .cruise rpm starts at 4200. stays within 50 rpm of that untill about 3secs then will gain 250 by 4 sec. 3200 lb 532 inch super street car

Also, 4 seconds on the stop in a 3200 lb car seems to be a lot to me.. what's your mph on the stop, as compared to flat out?? |

Re: inconsistent stop
I like electric stops but it is VERY important to wire it using 10 ga wire (power and ground) with the power wire running through a relay. Use the throttle stop timer to control the relay.

Re: inconsistent stop
I’m guessing this is a two blade stop (primary’s only)?

Re: inconsistent stop
What does your converter flash to? More often than not, the culprit of rpm's climbing on the stop is because of a tight converter.

Re: inconsistent stop
its wired per dedenbears wiring diagram with aircraft silver coated 10g wire. it has around 13.5 volts min all the way down track. ofcourse there could be a voltage drop at the solenoid but even at low batt voltage when it wont start it snaps the airvalves open. ive checked and you couldn't open it by hand. it flashes to 6100 rpm and its a 4blade stop. the air in st louis required the stop be on for 4secs usually in the mid 3s. it mphs 142 in those conditions.i havent ran it all out with this engine. on a normal summer day it doesnt raise rpm near as much; maybe 100. in my opinion a convertor adjustment is in order.
