T-N-T,
I can'tget through on the PM. Here's some of the classes and cars. Remember, the 1963 cars could not compete in Super Stock. And SS/A was still open. I think this list is close to being correct. Re: 1969 Super Stock Classifications
Here's a shot of John Petrie's '69 Hemi Coronet...not sure if it was a Superbee or an R/T model...and no class markings on the window either.

Re: 1969 Super Stock Classifications
Paul,
I have never seen a 1969 Mustang with a 351C. I thought the only 351 in 1969 was the 351W, factory rated at 290 hp. regards, Roland |

Re: 1969 Super Stock Classifications
1969,,,,,,,
Bizarre year for NHRA Super/Stock Classifications,,,,,, The classes moved around a bit, so sometimes you weren't sure where you'd be classed. The ex-Sox & Martin 1968 440 GTX, was classed in SS/F in 1968 (9.50 and up Wt/Hp), or D/S in Stock Class. In 1969, now with an automatic, the 68' 440 GTX was classed in SS/IA. (9.50 - 9.99 Wt/Hp) or E/SA in Stock Class. In 1970, they were back in SS/H, or F/S in Stock Class. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... ost6802885 1969 World Finals Jerry Harvey 1969 Mustang SS/I (428 Cobra-Jet engine, non-Ram Air) Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 01-16-2012 at 11:11 PM. |

Re: 1969 Super Stock Classifications
That is correct 351 C did go into production till 1970 I was working at DPG (Dearborn Proving Ground) at that time. The 69 Boss 302 was a hint of things to come with the Cleveland style cylinder heads. There was stock block 305 all aluminum Cleveland style engine ran at Indy 500 by Gurney and finished second?

Correct. I took the information off the quartermilestone site. They listed Jerry Harvey as running a 351/300 HP Cleveland in his 69' Mustang at the 1969 World Finals. But after checking, I found out he ran a 428 Cobra-Jet (non-Ram Air) 'no hood scoop car' combination in SS/I for 1969. And later in the year, he ran the 69' Mustang with a 390/320 HP engine combination in SS/J. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 01-17-2012 at 03:35 PM. |
