You will be very happy with an Extreme Automatics 2004r. One of the best in the country building racing 2004r's with many years of experience. Not cheap though. Ask Lonnie for a convertor company recommendation.

Art Carr sold his original Art Carr business many years ago and the rights to his name. The company quickly got a bad reputation. Don't know if it is still around but I wouldn't use them or their products. Art Carr opened California Performance Transmission after that and sort of reestablished his reputation but apparently couldn't use his own name for the company.

A racer has 1 from the new Carr owner in a Malibu with 383. Its a driver with a/c. Runs12.20 and has had zero problems. Maybe just lucky IDK.

I’ve got a 2004r in my 65 GTO which has a .040 over 455 probably makes around 450-500 hp and who knows how much torque. It works great. Just make sure you get the geometry and the adjustment right on the kickdown cable. 2.75 first gear and .070 overdrive. Billy Lynn did this trans for me 20 plus years ago. Lots of high performance street cars run a 200 4r.
