Late model consistency?
I enjoy jumping into bracket racing mostly in the sportsman classes or no box in my 2012 Dodge Challenger 5.7. Is anybody having success with late model cars being consistent? I try to heat soak and keep the car hot before each pass but it’s still moving the dial around 2-500ths. Car has headers, 3800 stall, 4.30 gears, drag radials and skinnies. Usually the 60ft is very close but around the 330 it’s moving around. Any input would be great.

Re: Late model consistency?
Not sure how these cars are set up from the factory but a problem I see is the throttle /drive by wire. Although you said the 60 is consistent still could be a problem with reactions and et. I could feel the delay sometimes in a vehicle I had with it. I think they make something to be able to correct it. I still prefer a solid connection from pedal to linkage. Then there’s all the other electronics to deal with.

Re: Late model consistency?
I used the harbor freight heat gun and documented intake temperatures and logged et. It did show a pattern and I dialed off of that fairly well. Mine was srt Magnum.

Re: Late model consistency?
Jeff were you warming the car up before each round or heading to the lanes, starting it when it was your turn to move up etc. Thank you

to afternoons with the weather changes then look at intake temp and maybe open hood to cool or keep closed to maintain. I wish I had ET book but car was destroyed in accident I didn't keep all the personal, but it showed very good graph of et difference with intake temp change. |
