Good Friday

When I was much younger, it seems Good Friday had a little more emphasis than it does today, but the power and the purpose still remain.
I was looking through the repertoire of Good Friday messages one time, and I happened upon one that gave a dissertation about a Good Friday noon service in a large inner city church, one that was still prolific after several decades. The tradition was for this church to host a Good Friday citywide outreach with a half dozen guest pastors and their churches, and it was a large full house, to be sure. After a few hours of emphatic preaching about the Cross, the power of His resurrection, and much of that sort of thing, the very elderly original founding pastor was invited to conclude the service with a few words. That's all that was needed. Upon his introduction to his still familiar former pulpit, he set his rather large Bible on the pulpit, opened it, and he rather forcefully verbalized the message of the day with only few words. He looked up, gave a wise old smile, and said forcefully,
" There's Nobody On the Cross. Nope, he be gone."
" Theres nobody in the Grave. He's not there no more."
" But there's SOMEBODY! SOMEBODY! And He's ON THE THRONE!"
With that, he closed his Bible, returned to his seat, and the entire Church had erupted into the most emphatic praise and worship you ever could imagine for about 20 minutes or more.
Why is it still that the most simple messages of all time are still the most powerful? Must be because they are true!!
