Default McClay ,Pro Trans, Coan

Anyone have any experience back to back testing any of these ? I know all of them are great pieces along with some others that build metrics . The Coan , Protrans , A-1 , The 350 Turbo's have more gear ratios to choose from maybe the only advantage or could any be faster then the metrics

McClay has a wide variety of low gear options for the metric. I run one of his straight-cut low gear options and am very satisfied but have not had any experience with the other options. It would be hard for me to believe any of them could be any better though.

If you have a car with a lot of steam get six pinion planetary sets installed. It will save you money. The Smith family, ProTrans, makes some really great trans and parts.

The Pro trans with the new version of the ATI 350 case.
Some nice changes that will be worth while if your buying new.
If your on the used market buy the Pro Trans.

And man, was Daddy ever right. Probably all of us have done the old "talk yourself into less than what you know you SHOULD buy" deal, and it just never works out. You talk to a hundred guys, looking for those who will tell you that your second choice is just as good as the best stuff, and even though 60 percent of the feedback actually
says "Spend the money for the good stuff", you buy the cheap stuff and then cry over your choice, time and time again.

In Div. one it's tough to beat Jack Sepanek's trany's. He is at most of the races and is always willing to help you out with any issues. I have used both Pro Trans and McClay's in the past. Both are really good pieces but I feel Jack's stuff was even a little faster. Most reputable racing trany shops can build a great trany. It's up to you how much you are willing to spend. I agree with John's father buy the best you can once. BP
