Default Class Racer Nationals ?

Hey guys,

I'm throwing this out here to get some feedback and how many of you would be interested. What I'm looking to do is put together a Class Racer National for Stock and Super Stock at Numidia. I would like to get enough participation to run both Stock and Super Stock. It would be a two day race, one on Saturday and one Sunday, with Friday being a test and tune.

This preliminary and nothing has been set, but I did talk to the DiMino family from Numidia and they would be interested in hosting it. The weekend I am looking at would be September 12th and 13th. Its the same weekend as the National at Maple Grove. The reason I chose that weekend was simple. From everything I am hearing, the race is not going to happen. I figured since many racers have plans to race that weekend and took time off from other things, it would be a no brainier to hold a race that weekend.

So here are some questions I have for you all...
1: Should we have heads up racing during eliminations, there will be a qualified field and ladder.
2: Should it be a all run field with no ladder
3: If there are enough cars would you like separate classes( Stock and Super Stock)
4: No fuel check, just check weight for qualifying and if there is a heads up run.

I talked to Dave Ley, and he is on board with this race. I wanted to have a NHRA tech official on hand for qualifying and heads up match ups if we go that route.

Any other ideas are more than welcome.

Two races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, with a guaranteed $5000 to win each race. Entry fee $150 for each race.

I have talk to Anthony Bongiovanni, Micro Strategies and Sal Biondo, Biondo Racing Products, they are on board as race sponsors and I am work on more companies. I will have more details with sponsors as the days go on if the feedback is good.

Let me know what you all think and if you would be attending this race. If you don't want to post, just hit the like button. I need to know if there is enough interest to get this rolling.

I'm in and I am sure Dad would be too!

I would probably withdraw from the MG national and go to this instead...

To answer your questions.. I'm OK with heads up, yes to all run (ladder or no ladder is fine by me), yes to weighing cars. I suspect you won't have the manpower or equipment for fuel check, but that's OK with me if you have it. If you have enough cars for separate classes, great. If not, a combo with keeping Stock and SS separate at the beginning would work.

I would love to if it was in the middle of the country. I made Class Nats in Byron from AZ, but PA is to far.

Are you going to allow spectators or photographers that aren't certified by NHRA?

Unless the border opens up I can't make it. Think you should run it like a Nat. Open, all run first round with Stockers kept separate from Super Stockers, then all put on ladder from first round winning et. If you go with heads-up runs, then you need to check fuel, so no heads-up, no fuel check, just check weight. If you split the classes you also split up the purse. This way you can keep 5k to the winner and be able to pay back farther.

Absolutely!! Dave Ley runs his races extremely well - I’d have no problem having it run the way his do - no ladder first round but also no heads up first round - no problem mixing stock and super stock either, with or without enough cars! Great idea! Joey Cole - 1113 - GT/DA and Jeff Lawrence - 1515 - GT/EA
