Default Not exactly a dime rocket but close.

As some of you may know I bought Ken Robinson's 88 turbocoupe stocker,I made it out to the track once before it closed for the season, it only went 14.80 @just a weak 88 mph! not very impressive but it has tons of potential,im changing a bunch of stuff over the winter and hopfully i can get it to run the R/S index of 13.95, so far I took the head off and had a stocker valve job done along with some new valve springs and retainers.,a new 3" down pipe and a header, I think it will a fun project for now im going try and run the index on the cheap and see what happens.

Fred,
Running under the index shouldn't be much of a problem for a turbo car.
What are you using for a transmission?

The T 5 will work if you're not running that combo hard.
I started with a T 5 out of T/C (3.95 low), in the Mustang.
First problem was the syncros wouldn't let me power shift it over 6 grand.
So I bought a Harbor Freight Dremel copy and slick shifted 2,3,4. Then took 5th gear completely out of it.
I had to make a shifter blocking plate so I couldn't go from 2nd to 5th. The 3rd gear slot was a little narrow and hard to find while pushing away from you.
After that, I never had a shifting problem for the two years that I ran the stick shift.

Mark the plan is to run the T5 til it breaks, thats when I buy an automatic setup, for now I just want to get it flowing a little better with the header and downpipe,it had a stock exhaust manifold and stock 2.5 downpipe,it also had some ignition issues when I got it where you could not turn up the boost over 12 psi, after a good tune up it cleared that up but it still lays down over 3500 rpm that's why I pulled the head and checked the springs and valve job, (springs were shot) 80lbs on the seat.
