Re: Best Pontiac Powered Super Stockers
He was my first Pontiac SS hero, when he won the the US Nats & Sports Nats, in '75. We saw him run that screamin 389 wagon, at a points race in Jackson, Miss. Got a real good close up pic. But I've already posted it here.

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Super Stockers
Yeah, it was a nat record holder. We saw it run at the 1978 Cajun Nats. Got a real good close-up of Sonny & the car. Had never heard of Sonny Ray or the car. Didn't know who it belonged to, til I ask here.
https://classracer.com/classforum/sh...27&postcount=1 Sonny won the Cajun Nats in '79 & '82 ! http://www.nhra.net/50th/results.asp?mYear=1979 http://www.nhra.net/50th/results.asp?mYear=1982 I think after it got a new paint job, it was the same car David Rampy used to get his 1st nat event win, in around 1983, at the Cajun Nats. https://classracer.com/classforum/sh...31&postcount=3 Last edited by oldskool; 12-28-2019 at 01:54 AM. |

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Super Stockers
Wow!,I had completely forgotten Herslow and Morlock. They earned a lot of respect back in the day, esp. from Pontiac people.

https://www.classracer.com/classforu...9&postcount=24 The first one I remember was the H-O Racing Specialties red '74. It was a record holder. We saw it at the '78 Cajun Nats. I've read that it is the same car that J.B. Clegg has, & has raced, with a 4-speed. John Clegg raced a '73. J.B. Raced it this season. I think J.B. has got both cars down near the mid 9's. |

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Super Stockers
Bill's little GTO is one of the quickest 350 Pontiac powered cars ever, along with Mike Morgan's '77 Bird.
