Cool Re: engine identification

Lynn, I went to mortec.com and 3959512 comes up as a 62-67 327 and was also used for some CE replacement blocks.

I believe the CE prefix stands for counter exchange and was used for warranty replacement short block and replacement engine assemblies. My 69 Z28 RS has a warranty short block from 69 with that CE prefix.

Cool Re: engine identification

Does that block have the provision for a screw on oil filter? The only small journal 327 blocks that I ever see with a 512 casting number had the later screw on filters like the large journal blocks had. Supposedly, the 512 was a better block .

It is. I purchased a new 427/425 short block back in the mid 70's and it had a CE designation.
