Re: CAR TRAILER WINCH Rocommendation
Their website is still up.
I've had 3 of the S400 in 3 different trailers and keep going back. The last one I got was from Amazon and it must of been on a shelf a long time cause I couldn't gt the twist and curl out of the cable. I replaced the wire cable with synthetic rope I got from Mean Mother off road supplies through 3P Connect in Cucamonga, CA.

Re: CAR TRAILER WINCH Rocommendation
They were sold to a company in CA and they are not up and running yet. I purchased a S-5000 with the nylon rope and I am very pleased with it over the cable.

I know they're pricey, but WARN continues to be
the most used by offroad pros. Bob |

Re: CAR TRAILER WINCH Rocommendation
Warn are the best and I have used them forever on my Jeeps.
However, In my trailers last 10 years I have used Harbor Freight 12,000 Lb. They are usually $399 but last week when I was shopping there...they were on sale for $279.00 (often on sale) They do not get near the use in the trailers and I usually get 8 to 10 years out of them and when they wear out.....I just throw them out. They usually work longer than I keep my trailers since my son is in the trailer business and I trade mine in every three or four years.

Re: CAR TRAILER WINCH Rocommendation
we use a Warn 4 wheeler/ atv winch in our trailer, with the 16 ft cable. Works great for our 3160# Chevelle.
Either a VRX 25 or VRX 35. Can't remember. But the rolling resistance on any STK/SS car, in neutral with air in the tires, is not much. So don't let the 2500# number scare you. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wrn-101025

Re: CAR TRAILER WINCH Rocommendation
I bought one from Harbor Freight at least 15 years ago. It has been the bet winch that I have owned. Just converted from cable to rope a couple of seasons ago and love it. I think it is about a 5000 lb rated winch. I had both Superwinch and Warn and neither lasted more than a couple of years. Just overpriced.

Re: CAR TRAILER WINCH Rocommendation
I put in a 4500 champion with wireless remote this year and it has worked really well so far. I got it from amazon. Just checked and they are on sale for $166. Has both wireless and normal switch.

Re: CAR TRAILER WINCH Rocommendation
I have a Superwinch LT 4000 on my flatbed tilt and it pulls my 3300 lb Mustang up fine. It's light enough that I didn't have to counter weight it. My drive is sloped so I got a snatch block for it. It is a super duty pulley that doubles the pull of your winch. When I broke my car I hooked the snatch block to the back of the trailer and used it to back the car off. The remote is 12 feet long but easy to extend with extra wire. Mine's around 25 feet.
