Default Metric 200 help?

Just installed 3-speed mcclay 200 metric with brake. Attended Atlanta points race and ran TNT on Friday night to get familiar with 3-speed from PG. On third pass something happened internally. Car will not move in low gear. Acts like trans brake engaged. Pulls in other gears ok. Trans fluid smelled ok, no burnt or discoloration. Thought trans brake switch gone bad so I checked voltage on wire unplugged from trans. Everything checked out ok. Bought used and Jack Sepanek sp? freshen approximately 30 runs ago. Any idea of what could be going on? Will be calling Jack first of next week.

Broke the sprag. Happened to my 200 and there was no sign of anything until the tranny came apart. Same symptom - no first gear.

Your trans would lock up in 1st gear , would not move , and stall against the converter like the transbrake was on ?

On a 200 if the roller clutch was broken or wouldn't hold then there would be no 1st gear , but if the low/rev clutch was applied it may be able to move in low range . The low roller clutch and the low/rev clutch hold the same gearset when they work . In 2nd and 3rd gear they need to free wheel or the tranny will lock up . Ed's trans moves in 2nd and 3rd gear so neither of those are applied .

Update. Inside trans everything looked like brand new. Turns out a part inside the trans solenoid came apart. The result was the transbrake would engage when I went to 1st gear. Fortunately, Mcclay sold us a rebuild kit for his solenoid and everything is working as it should. Really got lucky...no broken gear sets or anything else expensive. Thanks for your input.

Was it faster than the glide? According to what I have been told it should be about .20 faster than the glide.

Mike, I really don't know at this point. I carried untested car to Atlanta points race and made 2-soft setup passes in nhra TNT just to get a feel for it. I ran out of time to for a hard pass for 1/4. I paid for track TNT for 1/8 mile pass. It broke on the first track TNT pass. Hoping to try it again when it cools off.
