if it has Liberty pro-shift rings they will have welds holding them...if factory with every other tooth cut off there wont be welds and will still have the cone/taper area for synchronizer....
Another option if it is pro shifted w/liberty rings, Liberty's will face plate them now...
Liberty's pro shift rings the lugs were 1/8' wide X 1/2'' ish long and usually have Liberty's stamped in them
Doug Nash's were about 1/4''wide and 1/2'' long

I have one of those T-10's, Joe at Liberty Gearsmade them, 2.99 first gear, 1.75,1.33,1.00 made from 9310 nickel steel, great box, it's worth rebuilding, but I'd rather find a 2.64 box for street and save the Liberty set for racing.

All gears can be bought on ebay. If the pro shifted gears have life left in them I would be interested in buying them. I dont have any extra gears to sell.

A picture of what you have is worth 1,000 words. I might have some of what you need.

I have an AS10T10Y sitting in the corner, bought in 1978. It has full synchros, nodular iron main case, aluminum tail, 26 spline input, 32 spline (Turbo 400) output, 2.88 first with 9310 gears. Back then, this was the "ultimate" in factory offerings on the aftermarket. Decoding the name, AS10 was the 9310 geared version, Y was the 2.88 first.

Curious,

I understood back in the day that the mid plate needed to be made of a material other than aluminum.

So I'm sure the iron case is important and the tail housing can be aluminum, but what of the mid plate?

Steel mid plate helped alot over aluminum. Steel is a little harder to find.

Yes, the hollow (around the bearing) cast aluminum midplate was the weak point. I got the G&G iron midplate for mine.
