UFO pictured early 1965 before the funky aerodynamic front cap mods took place.

Re: A990 Super Stockers
Ah,,, I was wondering how long it would take for you guys to dig up a couple of my shots from back in the day,,, I took the shot of the "Hemi Count Down" at Puyallup in April of '68, the first drag race I ever attended, I was 15 at the time. I took the photo with me to Mission Raceway in B.C. a few years back and showed it to Harry and Julie, who got a kick out of it.
The photo of Butch Leal's "California Flash" '65 car was taken at Ontario Motor Speedway, site of the NHRA Supernationals/World Finals in '74, on an early morning walk around, thats Butch standing in front of the car. There were 2 carloads of us guys driving all night from Tacoma to get there and we slept in the parking lot,,, but we were 21, on our own and enjoying life! Where did the time go? Danny Durham |

Re: A990 Super Stockers
Any of you guys remember the red 65 Dodge of Johnny Perkins out of Jesup, Ga. The one thing I always remember is it had a aluminum front end with the phrase "Bend it Buy it" on the top of the front fenders.. Frank

Re: A990 Super Stockers
It is restored back to it's original colors. That was Butch Leal's first A990 car.
Also, the Flack & Comstock Plum Crazy photo posted above is a '64 and running as a Max Wedge car. Rick Lakin later ran it with a Hemi. Last edited by Steve Stasko; 04-17-2012 at 03:00 PM. |
