Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
well finally got out to a T&T last night .
5 passes . It was warm low 90s down to low 80s with humidity in the teens . Was hard to get car cool , especially with the 30 minute traffic jam on the freeway on way in . was around 190deg engine most passes DA was 2840 down to 2250 between 6.17PM and 9.12PM Any hoo . First 2 passes was like oh my god , very slow sixty /et( 1.48/10.48) but mph was normal at 1/8 and 1/4 . OK new tyres . PSI started @ 19 1/4 then 20 psi , shock settings as per normal 3rd pass 21psi and bigger burnout . 1.46/10.39/128.89 . That's better 4th pass 22psi same burnout . 1.46/10.40/128.37 . Tyre face looked better across 5th pass 22psi same burnout . 1.45/10.38/128.47 . Tyre face looks about right . Track championship round next weekend . Tyre feels good , I hope it will come in a little more , car has been 1.42/43. I know I can dial to this . Thanks for all the feedback/replies . Tex |

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
this is first or second pass
https://cacklingpipes.zenfolio.com/p513758923/edd3a9dde 4th pass https://cacklingpipes.zenfolio.com/p513758923/edd3a9dd4 5th pass https://cacklingpipes.zenfolio.com/p513758923/edd3a9dd8 Looking at tyre in 4th pass may need a little more pressure ? Anyone running around 23psi with the Hoosier ? Tex |

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
Final instalment
Ran track championship round , 4 passes . dang red eliminator round 1 . Ran on Saturday , 1/8th mile races , 8 passes . Tyres seem happiest at 23psi , did try 24 for 2 passes no improvement . This is my take on the runs . The Hoosier is slower than the Pro Bracket Radial , 0.02 - 0.03 slower in sixty and all way down track . MPH is very similar . If it spins , did twice , it does not recover as well as the PBR . One spin I expected due to poor burnout , car corkscrewed in burnout . They do need a reasonable burnout with my car . No just light haze them . It is probably more sensitive to track prep . I am sure track champ rounds are better than T&T and private days where you wont see them drag the track during the day unless there is oil down . The Hoosier has been really consistent . Doubt I will race Dec final meeting , 4th place but cannot get into top 2 . Will probably run in January national grp 1 meeting . But will also be HOT , but track prep will be at its best . thanks again , Tex |

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
Just a little update .
Ran 2 weeks ago at national grp 1 ihra event . Weather was damp leading into event and on qualifying day . Temp was 80s , GOW 100-108 . DA 2800-3500 or so Friday track seemed to have minimal prep . Blew the tyres off first pass , 2,75 sixty , shifted into 2nd in the sixty 2nd pass sort of hooked , 1.745 sixty , 10.80 @126 pass . So lost 3/10s in sixty but got down track Saturday was the same weather Rnd1 took the win . 1.47 sixty . Dialed 10.50 went 10.53@117 on brakes . Ok got something to dial against Famous last words . Blew the tyres off again , in fact a mate said there was smoke off tyres like a burnout . The cherry didnt help So i guess these Hoosiers arent liking my Plymouth , transbrake whatever ? Wint be out for a few more weeks , work situation . May have to try footbraking ? Not sure about another $1200 on tyres . Tex |

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
The radials will do that, but if you work on your car to make them work you will be rewarded.
The front suspension is where it's at. Needs to move freely to transfer the weight.

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
Lenny , Ed
thanks for the response . I have only ever run radials on the Plymouth , bought it in 2007 . Never had this issue with the MT PBR only this Hoosier style . Is there some fine adjustment with shocks left ,yes . Enough to eliminate this , probably not . Will normally lift front wheels 6-8" , rear will separate / lift 3-4". Has caltracs . So it is hitting tyre hard , pics always show some tyre wrap . Tex |
