Here are a few pics........................... I'll post more if y'all want to see em. That's the man himself, Jerry Ault at 81 years young sitting in the car. He had not seen it since he sold it in 1978. This pic was at the Gathering of the Geezers event at Kilkare Dragstrip in Xenia Ohio in August 2020. It was an emotional day for all of us. Another pic is Dave Thomas, Jerry's good friend and crew chief, Jerry and yours truly. Thanks for allowing me to post this piece of drag racing history.

Rex,
I'm so happy for you! That car is one of my favorite race cars of all time. I first saw it at the Summernarionals in the seventies.
Does is still have the Monarch Butterfly within the gas door?

Thanks Frank. When I got the car it had (and still has) the stock 63 gas lid. I'm not aware of the butterfly you refer to, but I will inquire with Jerry and Dave and if it should be there....................we'll git er done. I want the car to be as accurate as possible. I talk to Jerry and Dave every week. Jerry has called me a half dozen times to thank me for saving and restoring his old race car. THAT, is a special feeling right there.

Rex,

I trust that you met Bill Sheets back in August 2020 at Kilkare? He originally painted the car YEARS ago.

Hi Todd. Yes, we met Bill .........GREAT guy and now a good friend. He actually still had some of the gold leaf he used when he painted the car in 1975. He sent it to me and Dauber used it when he lettered the car in 2020.

Two photos of Brinkman's 1960 Corvette from the 2021 racing season. Both at Maple Grove Raceway.

Hi Shotgun61,
I love what you did with the car.
I have a few questions since you are still in touch w/ Jerry Ault.

What size engine did they run in the 1970's?
Who built the engine and ported the heads and etc back then?
What kind of rpm did the Vette run through the traps and shift points and etc?

Thanks, RonP

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your questions, Jerry ran mostly 277 engines but occasionally went up to a 287. He built his own engines and Batten did his heads. He said he left at 8500 and shifted at 10,500, 11K thru the lights. This was with a Dana 60 and 6.50 gear and Doug Nash 5 speed.

Thanks,
Rex
