Just Thinking......
Just came back from a two day S/SS race at BIR. Had a ton of fun even though I didn't agree with sundays program. These are so much fun we are thinking about skipping the hour away Nats at BIR. No BS to deal with. Treated like 2nd class people. To spendy. Hows that for reasons? Maybe we should take in more of these USA and other S/SS meets. Just my thinking>>>>>> Whats yours?

Re: Just Thinking......
ron, thats a great thought u have. how about something along these lines, 7 div. races and 3 sports nationals in each div. to make 10 total. and the man or woman at the end of these races with the most points counting all 7 divisions is ur category champ.
then u let nhra have their nat. events with these classes t/f f/c p/s a/d a/fc comp and whoever the heck they want to run with these guys. this will probably make the sportsman racers very happy and maybe make nhra happy. maybe some of us old guys may show up again.

Re: Just Thinking......
what happened on Sunday that you didn't agree with.
I also think the combo races are more fun. Getting ready to head to Buckeye S/SS race in OH this weekend. Even though I am a WV Mountaineer, I set aside differences for racing!

Re: Just Thinking......
That would be great. The Nats are just not fun anymore for us. And at my age thats why I'm there. The sun program had no qual. shot. they went on sat sheets. People left, some wanted to change classes. We tuned up the SS car a little quicker for sun to. A little screwey!!

I can't see where 1 time shot could have hurt.

Re: Just Thinking......
Ron, I was one of the ones that left, I was not happy when they canceled us out from the time trial. How long would it have taken us to get a qualifing run for 25 cars. Then sitting strapped up in the car for a couple hours on Sat didn't help my disposition much. I also am seriously thinking of staying away from the Nationals. It is definitely more fun going to the combo races. It is pretty busy now, and I really don't want to give up 4 or 5 days work with the way the economy is. I may need an attitude adjustment, but it seems like it is changing to the "who gives a sh__" when it comes to National events.

Re: Just Thinking......
How many miles to Earlville, Iowa for you guys? There are a couple of Heartland Stock/SS races left there this year and the USA Labor Day race. You can drive down on Saturday, spend the night and race Sunday morning.
July 25 Earlville, IA July 31 Cedar Falls, IA Aug 21 Cordova, IL Sept 5-6 Earlville, IA Sept 26 Earlville, IA Oct 16 Cordova, IL

Re: Just Thinking......
We have more fun @ the Buckeye S/SS combo races than the N races. Less sitting more racing. One day event pays good money and no bitching or crying. Please go out and support these series as they may one day be our only place to race. Try it you'll like it. Joe & Jacque

Re: Just Thinking......
Ron you couldn't have been too surprised by their actions. The least they could do is run a sportsman latter one day and a pro the next so you don’t have the same ladder both days. I have never been to grove creek. How are they to deal with?
