Re: 1967 NHRA Records
Tom, I think your 2nd post is a repeat of the 1st post - the records, not the Sep 1967 Indy results.
I grabbed both off your facebook page today - this is a lot easier but whichever is easier for you. It is so valuable to have this history posted. Wow, only one stock Ford, E/SA=11.90=w/hp I'm guessing a good old 57 4dr hardtop with a blown 312/300hp. |

Re: 1967 NHRA Records
Back at it, looking for a couple more things:
1. In the 1967 records Tom just posted, SS/E Randy Payne ran 12.35 & 111.11, in a 67 Chevy. Would that be a z28 Camaro or a 396/325-L35 Camaro (before it was factored higher)? I wish they listed the engine on these sheets- sometimes the factoring makes it hard to guess, or just so many combos. 2. Tom in your "spare" time could you post the 1967 Winternationals? Looking in particular for Ron Garey's SS/E win in a W30 of all things! Not too many Olds wins in SS/ back then. Had to be either a 1966-400-6v or a 1967-400-Qjet car. |

Would you know who won SS/B at the 67 Indy Nats ? I know Tom Myl won SS/BA in an RO23 Plymouth. Last edited by Rat Patrol; 06-29-2020 at 04:27 AM. |

Re: 1967 NHRA Records
Browsing back thru some of these old threads & noticed that nobody mentioned anything about the fact that Pontiacs held records in A/SA, C/S, C/SA, D/SA, & I/SA.
Well, since I'm a Pontiac Freek, I noticed & am pointing it out. As mentioned, there were probably some quicker or faster cars, in most classes, which were purposely run slower, to avoid lowering their nat record. Some pics were made before '67, when the cars ran a lower class. For example: The pic of the Wolf & McClelland car shows that it was running C/SA, not A/SA. But, I assume that the 405hp 421SD engine is the only Pontiac engine that would make enuff power to run in A/SA, in the big car, in 1967. The '58 model Lowe & Easley car was running a lower class, when the pic was taken. I think several engines were available. I believe the top option included fuel injection. So, the '58 Pontiacs probably ran lots of different classes, back in those days. Last edited by oldskool; 08-24-2021 at 10:32 PM. |
