Need Starter Info
I have a 3rd Gen Firebird Super Stocker and am having problems and need some of the info from you guys on this forum. I have a Moroso 21235 oil pan on a small block chevy and a clutch with a 153 tooth flywheel. I need to find a starter to fit this. The oil pan kick out is preventing me from using my regular Hamburger mini starter. The clutch is a billet Youngblood 7" dual disc. Anybody know if a starter is available for something like this. Thanks

Re: Need Starter Info
You probably need a starter that you can rotate the solenoid on. The starter you have now may work if you can do this.

Re: Need Starter Info
What part of the starter interferes with the pan ? On my stuff with a Hamburger starter and a 153 tooth flexplate I trimmed the entire mounting block and removed the bolt hole meant for the big flexplate , that part of the mounting block hit the pan rail .

Re: Need Starter Info
SS3011 what pan do you use. My armature hits the pan. Even if I machined some of the mounting block it still wouldn't work. I might have to find another oil pan to get this to work.

Re: Need Starter Info
That's a bummer , sounds like your pan was designed for a 168 tooth flywheel .

Re: Need Starter Info
We have the same pan on my wife's superstocker. We use the Tilton starter but that pan is designed for the 168 tooth flywheel. Maybe call Rob and ask him. On my starter on my car which is Rob's clutch is a 142 tooth. I got a starter from GPE starters. He might be able to make you a starter that uses the 168 mounting but has a big enough gear to work on the 153 tooth.

Re: Need Starter Info
Thanks for all the reply's. Looks like I'm going to go with a new oil pan. There are a few out there for a 153 tooth flywheel that I found.
