oilpan and camcore
I has a engine update on a Cuda 70 with street Hemi for AA/SA in Sweden.
2 things I need to clear up, as I hear dual messages on. I has bought the new Mopar Performance block and will change the oil pan. The oil pan in the list was OEM 6Q ( as I used before ) A CRF 7Q ( 2” deeper than OEM ) was ok to all BB Mopars but not the Hemi before. https://www.cfrperformance.com/CHRYS...cfr-7117-z.htm I did ask NHRA, so they has now approved it. But I did also ask NHRA on a Mopar oil pan as they say on the ‘field’ a 8Q race pan is legal, as it has a Mopar part number. Many seems to use them and speed shop I will use say they is ‘legal’, but NHRA tech told me, it’s not legal just as they has a Mopar part number Only a oil pan that are listed or OEM is legal. -So question is ; What to do here as it seems the MP 8Q race pan do pass tech on the field by NHRA. Next question. As a new block is ongoing at this moment, I can get it machined on the cam core I prefer, OEM or bigger. Again, if I read the rule book it is not allowed, and if I ask NHRA tech it is not allowed. But out on the field I heard this is consider ok as with babbit bearing it can be seen as a ‘service’, and it pass tech since many years. Can some help me celar this out ? P.S. I like to use listed parts and read the rule book, and I did actually get the older MP block listed ok from NHRA just some years ago. Last edited by HankN; 07-20-2019 at 04:52 PM. |

Re: oilpan and camcore
I would call a division Tech Director or the National Tech Director , and go with what they tell you is legal . Just because some racers get away with some of that shady stuff , doesn't mean they are legal .

Re: oilpan and camcore
They have this new-fangled thing called e-mail, that might work
Seriously though, let an NHRA representative answer the question for you. Then decide if what the racers tell you is the direction you choose. |
