Epoxy instead of Cenent?

Is any one using or experimenting with any kind of epoxy instead of using hard bloc or cement

I have an old prostock bowtie block this block has some sort of what it appears to be Epoxy filling the bottom inch of the water jackets. ANY CLUES ???

Bad,
I wonder if your block was leaking around the bottom due to excessive relieving for stroke and the put in a little epoxy to seal it up ? I did it once to fix a small blow through from a broken rod.

As far as using it instead of Hard Block, I had a customer fill a block with some type of epoxy many years ago. The only thing I remember about it was that he ran the block ( 302 Ford ) for several years afterwards, and every winter when he was freshening it up, the bores had moved around a BUNCH ! I have never seen a block filled with Hard Block do that.

Probably Devcon epoxy. I've seen some older Pro stock pieces done with this. I agree with the epoxy moving around, heat definitely affects it.

I have seen blocks filled with cement move around also, RU saying that Hard Block does not move around like Cement or Epoxy.

I have not seen a block filled with Hard Block move around much. The one that was filled with epoxy was a mess, if I remember correctly it kept getting tighter each year ???

Back in the 70's I use Devcon epoxy and as a machinist I saved a pile of castiron shavngs etc and mixed them in with the epoxy to fill a 350 block for stock. I put a hose through the drain hole facing up towards the deck to keep the drain open. A few years later a buddy used the block for a bracket motor, Henry. (old 1608)
