g body rear suspension
Just wondering if these trailing arms would be considered legal for a 79 malibu nhra stocker. The rule book say's NHRA accepted non-adjustable oem type lower traling arms allowed. What would be considered NHRA acceptable? Has anyone used these arms? They are made by a guy called Iceman Products. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: g body rear suspension
They have been so far.
The Lakewood (Southside Machine) bars are also legal as long as you don't weld the lowering plates to the housing. As long as it is truly bolt on to stock locations, and now I understand, not adjustable for length on the lower bars, it's legal stuff.

Re: g body rear suspension
That's a non-adjustable lower arm as to it's overall length. They don't want someone altering the wheelbase of the car. The adjustable uppers are OK because they CAN'T change the wheelbase, just the pinion angle.Looks like a nice set up.

Re: g body rear suspension
Thanks for the replies guys.
Hey Rory, ya I bought Pete's car and I'm going to re-do the suspension and brakes this winter and see what it will run. can't wait to get it out. I was going to get Alf's set up , but since it might be illegal , I'm gonna try some other stuff. Here's what else I plan on doing if anyone has any input it would be appreciated. urethane body bushings, QA1 stocker stars, del alum bushings, low friction ball joints, moroso front springs, solid lower and adjustable upper rear arms, rear bolt on arb, solid upper bushings in rear end housing, areospace front and rear brakes. I'm kinda on a budget, so Afco d/a's etc. are out for now.Are ball joint spacers allowed? are longer ball studs doing the same thing? what brand of bolt on arb would you reccomend. I'm also planning on using some moog rear springs with the same rate left and right , and let the arb even out the body on launch. Also, should I be re-locating the upper arms at the housing?

Re: g body rear suspension
Since your on a budget , look into Calvert front shocks. Got mine from Alex Denysenko ( monymkrssla@AOL.COM ).
The Del-A-Lum bushings from Global West are nice , but a real pain to put in. I think I would see if they offer instalation if I was going to do them again. I used the softest Moroso spring and didn't have to do any cutting. Might as well put an airbag in the right rear now , you'll end up with one anyway. What rear end are you useing , 10 or 12 bolt ? I haven't tried relocating the upper arm yet , but plan on trying it and see if it makes any difference. Here's a website you can look around on, these guys know how to make a G body work with stock suspension. http://www.maliburacing.com/ Bud

Re: g body rear suspension
Bud, I'm using a 12 bolt made to fit. Do you still need an air bag with a anti-roll bar? I've also got the softest moroso spring to install. I've been on maliburacing, thats where I saw Iceman's stuff. What kind of 60 ft times do you get?
Dave

Re: g body rear suspension
Hey Shawn, how's it going. Pete had a 12 bolt modified by Alf with 10 bolt tubes, strange spool and axles and 536 gears. Did he run something else before? Dave
