Default Great weekend before surgury

As I was scheduled for surgery, on my right shoulder, early Tuesday morning, and it was to be the only chance I get to race for a while, my son put the old Super Chiefs back on the 606.

5/26/08
Went to the track this week end. It rained all day Saturday, so I didn't even unload. Sunday, it started clearing up in late morning. I was just there to test. On the first pass, the engine died when I matted the throttle against the trans brake. Pass aborted! Marty pulled the intermediate air bleeds and lowered the floats. I got one pass in before it started to rain again.

60' 1.1992
330' 3.4251
1/8 ET 5.3088
1/8 MPH 131.75
1/4 ET 8.3011
1/4 MPH 162.47

Monday, I entered the Top Dragster class (minimum dial 8.49). I made one qualifying pass.

60' 1.2250
330' 3.4309
1/8 ET 5,2951
1/8 MPH 132.36
1/4 ET 8.2711
1/4 MPH 165.41

1st round: I dialed 8.27 and was paired with a dragster with a 7.67 dial.

60' 1.2028
330' 3.4207
1/8 ET 5.2908
1/8 MPH 132.01
1/4 ET 8.2689 oops!
1/4 MPH 162.56 and I let off right at the line, because he wasn't there.
He was .013 off his dial, but I was .0011 under mine. Oh well! maybe I can get a few runs in later in the season.

Here's a couple of pictures:

Well, I finally got back in the car, on Sunday 7/27. My son, Marty had moved the chute release lever, changed the rear gears to 4.10s, to get the rpms down with the 9" Fairbanks converter, that I had. Well, it did drop the rpms, but the car slowed down to 8.45 @ 160, so were going to put the pro-mod converter back in, with only 300 rpm slipage, and a set of 4.57s in the rear. My brother called and said that he had talked to Marty, and they're both looking forward to seeing the wheelstand that I'll do with this set up. Personally, I can't wait!

Thanks, Dave! It turns out that the gears that my son thought were 4.57s, are actually 4.71s. It ought to really haul, and if the RPMs, are too high, and/or it breaks the tires loose when I shift to high, I've got a pair of slightly taller tires to try.
