Not much information to work with, 1996 Pontiac _____?
Firebird? FWD conversion? Traditional Super Stock or Modified (super stock).
FWD conversion, Yes. Traditional Super Stock, No.....based on the way I read the rule book. Modified in Super Stock, gets a little fuzzy there.
I'm sure the others will chime in here, but my answer is Yes, No, Maybe....It depends.

OP states "1996 Firebird Pontiac". Since there were no FWD Firebirds, there would be no FWD Conversion Firebirds. So the only question needing an answer is "Can 1996 stock Firebird control arms be replaced with tubular pieces"? Per the 2020 Rule Book, the answer is "no".

No! I put them on mine while I was still driving it every day. I weighed original control arms, and tubular. Less than three lbs lighter. Had to go to some extremes to get the alignment correct. Very disappointed. Had to take all that back off when I started running it in Super Stock. Looked cooler on there. Made a customer happy, when he asked me what I was going to do with them laying in my shop after I had pulled them back off. I gave them to him.

Yep, you're right. I was slowly typing with my fat, old, fingers while he was editing his post to say "firebird". All I got to see was "1996 Pontiac".

D'oh.

No reason to feel you have to explain anything, Tom. We're all friends here.
