Auction: 69 ZL1 #1 produced
I am only passing the info from auction. Lord knows I can not afford it, but someone here might.

Are they the same car?
The second one appears different. Interesting that it does not have Jim Hayter's name on it. Maybe this one was before his time. Beautiful piece of work! Last edited by Charlie A; 03-15-2012 at 05:04 PM. |

It says "restored to SS/E specifications". I guess they didn't notice it's got an automatic in it.
Is this the real deal, or a "tribute" car? |

Charlie, good eyes...I didn't even notice the difference in the first photo, the decals on the rear quarter panel, the lettering on the front fender, and all of the decals on the lower body line are "All Different".

There are only rear brakes on this car. Those who were there in those days might care to elaborate more but I recall reading that AHRA allowed elimination of the front brakes. If you look close at the fronts you can see there are no brakes on it.

Two different cars or two different paint jobs on the same car?
One or the other. I remember the original / restored got burned somewhat in a trailer fire. Last edited by Charlie A; 03-15-2012 at 11:24 PM. |
