That's not gonna happen, and it shouldn't. We just had this thread a while back. While some would run a cheap pump gas, others would be back to exotic mixtures to get every ounce of hp possible, which I would probably take advantage of also. Fuel check is to keep the playing field level. If you want a cheaper fuel, run Sunoco blue. It's close to half the price of some VP fuels.

Henry, It’s much cheaper buying it by the drum then 5 gal cans. The Hazmat charge is the same, whether it’s 5 gallons or 54 gallons. C25 used to cost me 17.00 a gallon in a 54 drum. It was at least 20 if not 25 in a 5 gal can. It’s definitely the way. I’ll never buy it any other way, especially if I’m running a complete season. I know that’s not for everyone though. I also heard about VP raising their prices this year. I haven’t bought my fuel yet this year, so I don’t know how that is going change.

I might be going back to pump gas for dyno testing in the future, its cheaper and makes roughly the same power. It was $109.95 from them earlier in the year. Still the most fun I have with my clothes on!

I’d switch to Sunoco if we could run Surge. Not on the approved fuel list though….

As you know Ryan, I had good luck with the surge, we need to follow up with Sunoco and NHRA and get it back on the list.

Was Surge better than sunoco blue ?

Definitely. Was confused why it was taken off the list in the first place. Our car ran pretty much the same with the surge as it did with C11.

Good morning Todd,
You are absolutely correct. I did buy some to make sure I would have enough fuel to finish the dyno session. I do buy fuel by the drum and it is cheaper per gallon then the 5 gallon containers. I was just showing the price increase a couple of months made and it looks like it will increase again. Yes, we went through the pump gas / race gas situation, no need to keep beating that horse. Unfortunately this is a small part of a big picture and I'll keep going as long as I physically can.
Have a Good Day.

Respectfully,

Atco's fuel prices were very high for the last few years.....

$100 for 5 gals of any high octane VP or Sunoco when they had it.

Much cheaper buying from better sources and larger amounts....

C-11 was $1 more than C-12 the last time I was running either fuel....and for me made very little difference..

The hard part is getting it and transporting it in drums, always has been but it saves a lot of money.

There is a Sunoco dealer in Oakhurst that became a full line VP dealer last fall. Call Phil @ 732-496-0098,and see what he can do. He also races and tries to help on prices. John Kissel
