C J Rayburn RIP
C. J. Rayburn from Whiteland, In. passed away early this month (1, 1, 2022) in Indiana. He was well known for his dirt track racing, and dirt track chassis company that claimed his cars were "Stonger than dirt". LOL. But C. J. was also a drag racer in the 60s, and 70s and fielded a Chrysler Hemi Pro Stock in the mid seventies. He had a machine shop near Bob Gliddens property in Whiteland and did work for Stock and Super Stock racers back then. I pitted next to him at Bunker Hill Dragway back in the mid 70s National open. C. J. had damaged an engine during qualifying and pulled it. He came back the next morning with a freshly machined bullet for sundays eliminations. Anyone remember him? RIP C.J.
