Default Episode #28 of The Class Racing Podcast is now Live!

In this episode of the Legends of Sportsman Drag Racing, Cal Methods recounts his racing experience that dates back to the early 60s. Cal and his wife Maryanne are likely the most successful husband and wife team in all of sportsman drag racing. In his own words, Cal has been obsessed with Stock and SS racing since the mid 1960’s. It was his experience at the 1966 Winternationals that created that obsession ………….and from that point on…he was completely focused on Stock and SS racing. Cal knew he could outwork and outthink his competitors. And that showed in his racing program.

Collectively Mary Ann and Cal have raced in 72 NHRA National and Division final rounds and have set over 200 national records.
This is a two episode series packed with great stories from Cal. We hope you enjoy these.

Another great podcast. I love the story about fixing the ring seal on the Duffy’s pistons with gas ports, which nobody had known about then. Amazing how much that picked up the car.

Just the stuff we need while we are hunkered down. Thanks and keep them coming.

Very cool podcast. I am amazed that Cal can remember all that stuff, what a memory.

I agree with Jody, 66 hours towing what an ordeal.

Years ago I also ran a 1966 283 wagon. Even though I would only have a chance once a year to race him in class at Indy he helped motivate us every week to work on our car to try to make it run as fast as his. If he would have just raced it a couple more years we might have been able to run with him. LOL Barry

Cool Re: Episode #28 of The Class Racing Podcast is now Live!

That was absolutely the greatest two hours of podcast. It was like he was in the room with you and relaying all that history. I went to the Winternationals in 1980 and remember him being runner up with that '61 Chevy wagon. I had started bracket racing a few years earlier, and when we went to Pomona, Stock Eliminator looked like a pretty good place to play. I met Cal and Mary Ann about 1982 or so, they are the finest people left on earth. Cal will always help anybody that needs it. He knows what its like out there, he literally has" been there, done that" for a long time. This was a great history lesson.
