Re: Transmissions
Well from the wiki, the 80 - 87 Jeeps with the 2.5L. I assume the 232 & 256 six cylinders came with a different bellhousing pattern.

Re: Transmissions
The postal van transmissions were the only one with the chevy V8 bellhousing, nothing AMC. Not sure if they were 904's or 998's, never seen one. Would be a great find if they were 998's.

Re: Transmissions
They were earlier Postal Jeeps that had the Chevy II 153 4 cylinder.
Fully loaded, the PG wouldn't cut it, so they needed a 3 speed... I thought A-1 did them at one time.

Re: Transmissions
The 904 trans was in Jeeps with the 4 cyl iron duke in the early 80's. They were in 85 Cherokee with the 173 chevy V6 - I bought one new! in 85. The low gearset (2.74) was in some Matador and Spirit cars with the 4 cyl AMC motor in 80's - I bought several transmissions for the gearset at $100. The 6 and 8 cyl AMC's all have the same bolt pattern with 2 3/8 bolts up top and 2 7/16 bolts on the bottom going thru the dowels.
