81 Camaro - Help - Newbie to Stockers
Need some advice. I found a really sharp 81 Camaro that is currently being run as footbrake bracket car. I thought is would make a nice stocker. Anyone running this car? What engine, trans. I need to talk to someone before I proceed with this project. I want a car that I can work on and make it a reliable stocker. My thoughts are run it as a footbrake car and sort out the chassis before building a stocker motor. Need to talk to someone before I buy the car.

the car fits H I & J with a 350 K L & M with a 305 I guess the question is what are you looking to do with the car? if it's going to be a bracket car that you can run stock with a couple times a year ....i'd say it'll be ok...if you want a "good stocker" ? not so good. can it run the index ...oh yea. if ya want to go to the U.S. Nationals & win class...not a good pick.

He's right, I run a '81 camaro with a 305. We run well, but due to a heavy body HP hit (19 HP over the Malabu) it is a tough combination. If you are looking to win class, just hope there are no Malabus or Olds cars, cause it will be a long day. That being said, I love my car and intend to keep it for some time.
