Default 4th Gen F Body V6

Is a 4th gen f body with the 231 V6 a good combo?

I have also kicked this idea around, since we still have my wife's car from High School, and its in great shape.

The biggest problem I have, is that its a bear to work on, with the engine so far under the cowl. Maybe some racers with this type can shed some light on this.

I just put new heads on my sons car without removing the engine and drive train out the bottom.
just pull the radiator, and sway bar and you can stand in the engine compartment In front of the motor. (If your not too large) After you leave off the unnecessary brackets and accessories it should be fairly easy work on. Didn't even remove the hood, you need some shade when working in there.

I think the 3.8L Series II engine is a good pick . Doesn't Harry Doolittle run one in his Firebird ?

Lee Norton, the Racer Tees guy, ran a Firebird with a 3800 for awhile.

Ronnie Temento from Louisiana has an N/SA Firebird with this combo and he has been in the 11.80's before. The car is for sale on RJ.

I see what Mark is asking about , one is rated at 185 and the other rated at 200 . It maybe that the FWD version is rated different .
