They are pretty rare and pricey.
Rod Green has been restoring them and running them
on a test engine for WAY less than I have seen anyone selling
them. He is on this site sometimes. He supplys core and rebuilds /tests them for
$800. last time I checked

Most of the 71 340 carbs were recalled for driveability issues when
the first year and replaced with 72 carbs. They are in high demand by Collectors of 71 340 Cars

I have found the 9800 Performance "Super Quads" to be faster- more tune able and much easier
to find parts for especially jets. I would sell a good used one for $250. (Or a new in box 9800 series for $450.00)
and supply info on how to prepare them for racing. The scarce 9800 Aftermarket series (Plus Rare Competition Series)
were the only Performance Calibrated Thermoquads ever built.
All 3 new ones all sold now!
Still a couple nice used ones I have been hoarding for 30 years!

I wish that I could find some of them.

I would like to try one (I have a couple) but they
need to be refreshed after sitting 20+ years.

Yeah, I have an 850 and a 1000 I've been wanting to try on a bracket car. I have heard that a rebuild kit for a '71 carb would work, but didn't know if maybe you knew something I didn't.

Hay guys I was looking for carb stuff and just remembered a company that I had bought a lot of carb kits and parts over the years, it’s called Daytona Carburetor. I just looked it up and it’s still in business. I looked and they have a good selection of Carter kit’s including Thermocarbs.

The 1971 TQ gaskets will work on a Competition Series but the brass seats for the float needles are threaded in differently.

Vic I have a TQ that has a # 6-2146 cast in it on top.
On the Left rear hold down bolt tab it has 9036S &070 5 stamped.
Pictures available.
