Unhappy Re: Bruton Smith

He's the creator of at least a few NHRA tracks too, such as Vegas and Charlotte! I'll surely miss him more if Wild Horse Pass goes away with nothing here in metro Phoenix to replace it....

his daughters Facebook page has this from the wife of the late great Mel Larson.

Marilyn Larson (Mel's widow) Back in the early days when Mel was racing NASCAR He would go ahead of race day and do the marketing for your father. Neither had much money in those days so Bruton would get him a free place to stay and a cafe to eat at free and then would pay him after the race. Hard to imagine now isn't it? Bruton is now with his best friend in heaven...probably the reason he was smiling when he left. At least I would like to think so. Best friends thru life and forever. My thoughts and prayers are with your family..I know how you feel. Lots of love to you all.
