Yes indeed, and they still won even factored to 425hp, though not as much as in 1967.

Urgent request DC - Can you provide the shipping weights for the 67 and 68 396 Camaro? Id like to know if that changed as well as the factoring.

1967
3161 all 396

1968
3262 iron 396
3235 L78
3162 L89 alum heads

1969
3303 L35/325hp
3364 L34/350hp
3337 L78/375hp

In each case, add about 54 lb for the T400 trans if auto.

The Camaros did get fatter.
In that sense they truly did copy Ford, getting fatter every year.
The Z28 runs 1 full class heavier each year so it could run in 3 different classes, same engine.

Where is this Facebook group with all these heavy math people in it?

Its a post called Nova and Camaro weight breaks.

Thees a couple of guys....lyou’d know the name John Barkley......and a guy Tweed Vorhees who owns Ron Garey’s Olds....

Theyre not arguing....just their recollections are different to the info Ive been posting....so I just want to show them the Camaros stayed in SS/C for 68 because of the WB shift.....not just because they added 100lbs to the 67 cars and turned them into 68s.

Back to Ben Wolf, Spring 69 B/SA=8.00 class, the "1961 Pontiac".

Here's part of the entry list for 1970 Indy. Note McClelland & Wolf entry, a 64 Dodge in E/SA=9.00 class. Different class, so it's likely a wagon, 426/415hp max wedge.

But the point is, it looks here like they defected to the Dark Side (LOL) from Pontiac in 1970 Indy.

Did Ben Wolf move over in Spring 69 with a B/SA=8.00 2dr sedan Dodge 426/415hp? We dont know, but
1. The car fits
2. There's now evidence that Wolf & McClelland moved to Dodge by 1970.

Did they ever run Pontiacs again?
The last time I have Wolf in a Pontiac is 1968, and McClelland in 1969.

The B/SA=8.00 Ben Wolf mystery lives on. Maybe forever LOL.

I suppose we can eliminate a '69 RA4 Bird. Sal Biondo asked Phil Monteith about his '69 which was marked B/SA.

Phil said he only ran Stock in '70, '71, & 72.

Therefore, his Bird was running B/SA in one of those years, NOT '69. Probably not '72 either. The 9.00 - .9.99 class was A, in '72 only. That was the year NHRA drastically changed the Stock rules. Guessing that may have led to Phil switching over to SS.

My opinion, at this time, is that the Wolf B/SA car, during the '69 season, was NOT a Pontiac. The different weight breaks that year, seems to eliminate all Pontiacs from B class, that year, unless the hp factors are higher than we've found them to be.

Just to update any readers here (kinda quiet lately) we finally figured out the photo here of Dick Simon's 67 Fairlane Ragtop vs Truman Fields' Hard Times 68 Firebird is from Sep 1974 US Nationals at Indy. Simon in A/SA=8.00, 427-8v under the steel hood. Fields in C/S=9.00, RA1 under the hood from about 1972-74 or so, maybe longer.
