'57 Chevy Rochester Fuel Injection

I debated whether to post this here or in the Nostalgia thread, figured there is more exposure here.
I just read a story about the Black Widow Stock car and it sparked my interest.

Who if anyone, runs this combination in Stock, Super Stock or Nostalgia classes or has experience, knowledge or stories to tell us about it

We had a few running around here in ‘57. Local guy, Jerry Weiderman won “The Nationals” (way before Indy) in either ‘57 or ‘58 with one. Drove it on the street as well.
Three speed, still on the column back then.

If you ever go to the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, it is well worth paying a few extra bucks to take a tour of the vault. They have an original 57 Chevy “Black Widow” drag car that was in the vault when we went through a couple of years ago. The Black Widows were built by SEDCO with “back-door” funding from Chevrolet and this particular car was diverted from NASCAR to drag racing where it ran in G/Stock.

Just read the info on the Black Widow '57 Chev.Wrong info on the engine Specs! Solid Lifter F.I. engine was rated 283 H.P.-not 250! 250H.P. engine had hydraulic lifters.

Way back when, I lived in Temple City, Calif, and it was a quiet working stiff community but also there were a lot of car people around. We used to see an older gentleman driving a red 57 Bel Air sports sedan, that was the 4 door pillar less hardtop. This one was red, white top, and original right down to the hubcaps. The real draw was that both front fenders had large crossed flag emblems and the rare as could be Fuel Injection badges. It had the Powerglide trans in it, so it would have been the 283/250 horse motor. When discussing that car at work one day, a sales manager told us that several were built for salesmen's demonstrator cars. They were fairly decked out with options for back then and had lots of extra trim options.Seemed like over the years, a lot of car guys that I knew had seen that car running around, nobody had any luck trying to buy it. Hope somebody eventually got it and gave it a good home.

I think Bill Parmenter tried the fuel injection in his 57 super stock years ago without much success. I believe the only difference from 250 hp to 283 hp is camshaft. His nephew Mike is on here sometimes he might know how it ran. My experience is back in the 60"s trying to get one to run properly and i remember high vacuum was needed to make one run decent. With our weird camshafts that would be a challenge.
