Re: Question for Ed Wright
Hi Ed,
You may remember the guy that bought my 56. His name was John Thropp from Delaware. His interest was peaked when he saw the 12.90`s and at that time the record in n/sa was 13.60. He set that record the first record meet in 1971. I didn`t keep track of how he did with the 56. Butch |

Re: Question for Ed Wright
With all of the 56 talk, does Lamar Vaubel ring any bells?

Re: Question for Ed Wright
Yep, met Lamar at the World Finals the year they were held at Amarillo Texas. He had a black convertible (with a 'glide?)Very friendly guy. We talked quite a while. My home-made "slipper" clutch (3 speed saver/7" tire-hooker :-) ) gave up so I could not even qualify.

I remember Lamar Vaubel.......He was a great guy who left us way too soon.......I think he lived in a small town just northeast of National Trail Raceway in Ohio

Re: Question for Ed Wright
Sorry Lamar is gone. I hate to look at ND anymore. Every week we have lost someone else.

Re: Question for Ed Wright
Bob, that gaudy paint was traded to me for building a painter's engine. I was too poor to have mine painted,
He was too poor to have his engine done. My paint was left over from previous jobs. I thought it was really cool at the time. Not now.

Re: Question for Ed Wright
Hey Ed, I knew I knew you from a prior life, in Omaha. It hit me when I saw the picture of you racing the lime green 69 Chevelle at Cornhusker Raceway Park. That was Gary Vincent's SS/E car. I also raced a 69 SS 427 in SS/E. And a Roadrunner in SS/I. I'll try to attach pictures. I didn't pick up my time slip in Tulsa, when we raced in qualifying. I broke a part (fixed now), and the A/C in my trailer quit. I was hot and miserable, so, I headed home. I am too damn old for this stuff. P.S. was my light any good?
