Dumb question or not?
I own a 2002 S-10 2wd with a 6 foot bed and standard cab. It came with the 4 cylinder and 5speed manual trans from the factory. I have the "crazy" idea of running stock. I may switch to automatic for trans, but it has to be a 4 speed auto. I did notice that there is an option for the 262cid motor but it is listed as NES and all the info only shows a 4x4 having the V6.
Since there is no engine specs does that mean that it is a bad combo or just that no one has gone to the trouble of finding the "best combo" for this engine? Is this combo with either engine a feasible choice or a waste of time? I don't have 20+ thousands of dollars to buy a stocker and I like the slower classes. I welcome any and all responses. Just don't yell at me to hard, LOL. Phil Daly former Div. 1 K/SA |

The Chevy built 4 is also a good engine for W/SA . Those ol' boys down Mississippi way got the hp put on it a decade ago. I can't remember the name. He worked at Comp Cams, I think. You can use a 3 speed auto, but I don't know what bell housing pattern it has. The stick combo has less hp on it. You could run it that way. Either way, it should be fairly consistent with the EFI.

Re: Dumb question or not?
Thanks for the response. Probably stay with the 4. NHRA rates the hp at 129 with the 4 speed auto and 124 with the 5 speed stick.

After such an informative reply as Mark's, there is no need to add anything.
