Default Jan-Cen Motorsports joins with the WNYSRA

2nd Event of series to be sponsored by engine builder of current NHRA Pro Mod points leader

Rochester, NY – June 27, 2014: The Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association (WNYSRA) announced today that Jan-Cen Motorsports of Elma, New York has inked a deal to become a major race sponsor of the new racing series. Jan-Cen Motorsports will not only become the presenting sponsor of the 2nd race of the inaugural WNYSRA season on June 28th, but they will also award a $500 gift certificate to the overall series champion, which will be good for services at Jan-Cen’s world-class racing engines facilities.

Jason Oldfield, Co-Founder of the WNYSRA stated, “We’re very excited to announce the partnership between Jan-Cen Motorsports and the Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association. Jan-Cen Motorsports is one of the premier racing engine builders on the planet, and to have them support our sportsman racing series will be of great benefit to us.” Oldfield explained, “Obviously, our competitors will benefit via the prizes that Jan-Cen Motorsports has posted, including our series champion who will be awarded with a $500 gift certificate to utilize their top-notch services. But, the increased exposure that we will get through our association with Jan-Cen Motorsports could be an even bigger benefit to our racing series.”

Jan-Cen Motorsports has a long and storied history. Founded initially in 1958 by James Janis, Sr. and Tony Centra, the business is now run by Janis’ children and grandchildren. Over the years Jan-Cen Motorsports has evolved into the racers’ and consumers’ number one stop for high performance, including snowmobiles and ATVs from Polaris and Arctic Cat. Jan-Cen Motorsports Racing Engines division continues to be at the forefront, powering racing teams around the globe to numerous race wins and championships. Jan-Cen’s own Mike Janis has used their knowledge of high-performance engines to power him to 2 Pro-Modified World Championships, and following his team’s recent win in Houston, TX is the current NHRA Pro Mod Racing Series points leader with his 2013 Chevrolet Camaro.

Mike Janis, who now manages Jan-Cen’s Racing Engines business, stated, “We got our start in racing by competing in the sportsman ranks, and my late brother Jim even raced in the Super Rod category in its infancy in the mid-1980’s. So, we understand the needs of the sportsman racer, which in general is to try to balance performance and reliability while staying within a modest budget.” Janis continued, “In addition to the numerous professional racing teams to whom we provide racing engines and components, we still do business with hundreds of sportsman racing teams, including a few of the regular competitors in the Western New York Super Rod Association. Thus, our partnership with the Western New York Super Rod Association will help us keep our name in front of one of our largest target markets.”

The Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association returns to Empire Dragway tomorrow, Saturday, June 28th, for race number 2 of the 8 race series. Gates open at noon, with open time trials for all competitors starting at 1 pm. WNYSRA qualifying sessions are currently scheduled for 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm, with final eliminations slated to start at 5:00 pm.
