I’m considering building a S10 for bracket racing. Most of the race trucks are short bed/regular cabs. I’ve also seen a few extended cab/short bed trucks. Is there a difference either way? If so, please explain.

In a nutshell, the short wheelbase works well, has good weight transfer, is consistent for most situations. The longer truck is more stable for high horsepower, faster combos [like top sportsman] The short truck is a proven winner with a small block.

With a long box, if you are not setting the engine back ALOT, the drive shaft length would be a concern for me.
My shortbox has the engine as far back as possible with no firewall mod, and the DS is 53.5" center to center of ujoint. If you are welding the engine's frame mounts, BUY your headers before you weld the mounts. Hedman headers are about the only racing option out of the box unless going forward facing. Clark |
