38 years ago today April 18, 1983
Exactly 38 years ago today, Cpl Robert V. McMaugh was killed as he was manning post one during the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, on 18 April 1983.
Cpl McMaugh was 21 when a suicide bomber parked an explosives-loaded van in front of the embassy. He was one of 63 (number correlates only to the embassy) people killed in the bombing and the seventh Marine Security Guard to die in the line of duty. We honor Cpl McMaugh and the many others that lost their lives on that heinous day. #SemperFi 🇺🇸 . . Last edited by Eddies66; 04-19-2021 at 07:10 PM. |
