Ss/ma ?
New to the site here. Would this be a reasonable combo for this class
1970 Camaro 350/250/230. I believe it falls right at the bottom of 14 lbs/hp class at 3250. I have the car and most of the drivetrain with a few very simple changes it could be SS legal again. Dan |

Re: Ss/ma ?
I think a 2 Brl carb would be a real challenge in SS/MA.
Our SS/MA has a 800 CFM carb on a 330 V8 and can run to 8,000 RPM if needed. It is rated LESS HP than the 350 2 brl. I think you might try a 4 Brl. combo in your car and have better luck. Just my .02 worth

Re: Ss/ma ?
Thanks for the reply John,
One of the problems I have with that is, that any 4 bbl 350 throws me up into 10,11 lbs classes which I know or some of the most hotly contested classes in SS. My plans were to mostly run at Bowling Green, Ky and maybe into Ohio and Tenn. Still in the I'd like to do this stage, because I got this addiction as a teen watching the SS at my local tracks back in Central N.Y. Dan |

Re: Ss/ma ?
The 350 2bbl combo is being run successfully in SS, can't say it's the best or worst but it does work. Bear in mind this carb is fairly large.

Re: Ss/ma ?
You can run ssgt with it too. Build the car as you would a Stocker and you'll never get hurt with it. Lots of places to go. Good luck

Re: Ss/ma ?
Was looking for an older Nitro Joe's stats for John Auer from Missouri who ran that combo
But I did find a Greg Anderson 69 Camaro 350/250/230 ran 11.49 and Doug Holder same combo ran 11.66 If you go this route check with the Kansas City crew on 2bbl Mike Town et al |

I think you'll need to speak at great length to a competent camshaft grinder that understands "restricted race engine" breathing. With a class car we have certain limitations built in like compression, valve size, rod length. So working with your Cam grinder and cylinder head / intake manifold specialist you should be able to come up with a reasonable combination. I don't think you'll set the record but should run under the index and that will make you competitive. A good 2 bbl. carburetor builder that knows how to correct the cluster for a good all around fuel curve is also in order here. Good luck on your combination, just remember " if it was easy, everyone else would be able to do it. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |

Re: Ss/ma ?
Is there a builder that someone here can recommend for performing this kind of work? Looking at the AFR trace on the graph in my Racepak it is the opposite of the RPM/shift points, for the 2bbl on my Cougar.

Re: Ss/ma ?
Try Dean Oliver. Pretty sure he has done lots of 2 barrels.
