While it seems that would be good because of the 2-bbl carb, the '77 or '79 258 2-bbl makes more sense for only 5 more hp. they have 26 more cubic inches, bigger cam, better cylinder heads. Ed Fernandez and Jim Mantle have proven them as automatic combos.

Well, the newer 258s are better but if you have a 70 Hornet, I would say go for it! If you compare it to my 70 Chevy 230/140/140, everything is as good or better and I'm stuck with a 1bbl. and it ran pretty good.

the 232 is a single barrel carb motor...far as that goes, I've got a 73 258 out of a gremmy and a 77 258 that's out of a 77 amx (hornet) that are both 1 bbl engines. i'me wondering if it would be worth swapping cranks with the 232 so I could get a scattershield….kinda like my feet like to run a stick for the fun factor and BTW Dwight, I've got your nuts....i'll get them sent this week

OK?

70 232 lists 1bbl and 2 bbl both at 145 HP.

I see that now...although a wcd ain't my favorite carb, I did learn a few things about them...it'll take some looking to find an intake...

It's okay , but doesn't run in the 6 & 4 cylinder class (V/Stock )
Meanwhile , a 77 Maverick, 302 V8 is still at 137 hp! ..A 79 Mustang or Fairmont is @ 143 hp. All will make U/Stock, where the big index break comes in.

After 87 post the dime rocket master Bob Shaw suspicously
absent. Merry Christmas and happy new year Bob.
Hope you and yours are well. Bob holds his cards pretty
close to his vest..

Correction. Did re-read and found Bob back on post #35..

I suppose, seeing it's Christmas, I ought to be more charitable.
Okay, you've got the car and want to race it. Better than sitting behind a keyboard all the time. I know that story.
Anyway, so what are your plans for this thing? Where will you test it at a reasonable altitude? Kearney is 300 miles, right?
How about the clutch? Trans and shifter? Rear end?
The reason I ask is because Stick shift / Dime rocket doesn't necessarily go together. You know , like jumbo shrimp? Rap music?
