It is a little muddy. My understanding all along was the tether itself should be minimum 1/8 SS cable, and a loop of some kind on each end secured on a primary tube and the collector with a T-Clamp (Aircraft Clamp and several other names). Or you could have used a tether with a loop on each end, the collector end secured by the T-Clamp and you could bolt the other end to the frame with a bolt thru the frame. I have sent this to NHRA thru SRAC for clarification. Sometime what they mean and what gets printed is different. There seems to be confusion on the multi piece exhaust that run all over the car like plumbing pipe which I think some Fords got.

NHRA is requiring 2 methods of retention if you headers have removable collectors. Conventional method plus one of 3 options.

Dan, I don't think it's the cost of the parts (though it may be in some cases) needed that has most scratching their heads. I believe it's the apparent vagueness of the wording and the revising that has most wondering...my self included. Heck less than 100 dollars and you're sweet, but again why put it on if the NHRA is just gonna rescind it or change it again. Merely my opinion. Joe

Per NHRA. Three methods of retention. Collector welded to primary tubes; approved tether, or hanger attached to body and collector so it can't fly off. I think all the details have already been talked about. The third option (hanger) is the newest. I think it is worded badly, but they want something bolted or attached to the body so it can't be removed very easy. I think we all knew about the welding and the tethers. I think Dan is right; it's just not that big a deal and it's once only. I am the messenger only.
