i own the red olds convert that jim wheeler drove for remlinger olds.that the late jerry dover drove. and the blue 71 and red 72 were two different cars.same wheels were on both cars. and yes jerry jr drove it to. in 2007 jr bought it from the family that wheeler sold it to in1974 from houma. the car wen't to storage in 1979 with no transmission or driveshaft and stayed there till 2007 when jerry jr bought it.we somewhat restored it with and old stock engine that sr had in a crate from olds. i bought it from jr in 2010 and sits in my shop next to my black 71 W30 that i partley won the 1988 world championship with.the last half of 1988 i raced the 88 cutalss with.

Ok. Well that settles that. Somebody body in the Olds racing fraternity from back then told me the blue and red convertible were the same. I thought they sure took alot of time to put 72 side molding on the car if they did. The bodyside molding always put doubt in my mind. I read the blue car was a 320 horse 455. To your knowledge did Remlinger run a 455 in the red car? Glad the car survived. Thanks.

yes it is a 455 250 hp.the low hp motor from the factory.it is a bench seat car with a collum shift from the factory.dover changed it to the bucket seats with a floor shift hurst his and hers shifter.jerry raced it as a W30 engine in stock.in super stock they raced it as a 250 hp.funny thing just two days ago i took it back out of storage and brought it back to my shop and parked it next to my black W30 1971 car that was the fornof car that jerry sr drove when it was new.the black car has 7 miles on it the red convert has 38 miles on it. i worked for dover from 1971 to 1980 i went in buss for my self in november of 1981. i helped work on both cars when they were new.i met jim wheeler in 1971 along with ron gary. i talk to ron from time to time but haven't talked to wheeler in years. if you go to my face book page i have pics of both cars sitting side by side. if you want more info call me at 985-8511822 or 985-8722341.thanks i enjoy the old memories.
