Leonard Mattingly. Talk about an impressive run, it was fast there but it's still Columbus, it's not like somewhere up east or down south with a 30+ barometer.

Well I guess we used up all our good luck last weekend! Got beat by Louie Conkey this morning. The DA was 145' this morning by our guages. 45 degrees! Our car did not run what we thought it would. Larry was the 2nd pair out, so I didn't keep times after he lost. I did take some pictures from up in the NAPA suite of the starting line. Thanks to Johnny Mac for the ticket to the tower. It sure was warmer watching from up there instead of the stands. Some of the winners this morning: Merkle, Wilkes, Butner, Lynch. I will post a little more after we get loaded up and headed home.

Twas too late at night for me math. After checking the guides, the adjustment will be an under-whelming 9 horsepower. Hardly worth mentioning. Bruce Bachelder boasted at PRI two years ago that nhra had put some real teeth into the ahfs and that it would quickly correct the new car factors. I won't repeat what I told him then but his little toothless ahfs is not equipped to handle the gross miscalculations on the new cars.

Has Mattingly triggered automatic hp at 120 under or just a review? I was told that you have to run 140 under at a national open or sports nats to trigger an automatic hp increase. The 120 rule is only for national events and points races? Any input appreciated.

Now, any run at any race of -1.200 under or more gets HP, on a stepped scale (the further under that you run, the more you get). -1.25 gets more, -1.30 under more yet, and so on. Runs of -1.000 to -1.199 at a National or Divisional event will flag a combo for a potential review. If done twice in the same half of the season, it WILL be reviewed.

NHRA says these races are classified as National Events. They aren't exactly like them, but that was what I was told at Belle Rose.

Here are a few pics I took this morning from the warmth of the NAPA tower suite. They are not great, but, Hey! I was warm and it was 45 degrees outside!

So, that means Monday morning, all cars running this LS1 combination will have to put at least 80lbs in the car now. Correct? If so, why run the big number if you don't have to? That will slow the car almost a tenth.........and many are running this combination too.
