Terry since you did Cobra Jet heads you would probably agree.......
They were about the only heads I know of where it was common to bolt torque plates to them to do a VJ........ We did some in the shop I worked at on some local CJ Stockers before heads were messed with. A good running C/SA Mustang CJ ran maybe 11.20's at less than 120

Greg and Marty were the tech guys who checked us at Indy in 1966......and DQ'ed both us as r/up and the class winner ??? Robinson in I/SA
Greg was tough and always worked us over with our sedan delivery and then with our Chevy II a few years later....He seemd to let up a bit when we set the H/S record at Atco in Sept. 1970..... Trust me I remember all the cars you mention......... The CJ Heads had a reputation for the seats moving on the end cylinders once they were torqued. It was a royal PITA to do a VJ with torque plate on the heads...... I did head prep for years .......Our shop gid a great deal of machine work for T/K's......for many years.......I did heads....rods...blocks.....for well over 10 years......I know the life.....very well I had/have a pretty complete head shop in my garage and built many engines and did heads in there for years........I still do an occasional set and have a pair of heads to freshen up this weekend....Brodix....bracket car...

How about Jeff Tripp's SS/AM Monte Carlo? Definitely not the fastest car, but he drove it to Top Ten's in NHRA and IHRA in the same year.
