In my opinion the system is a little broke. If you can show up and tech a car in then leave and get the grade point, that’s not right, you should atleast have to make one qualifying pass and be on the Q sheet as a minimum! How do they know that car is legal weight, fuel etc?

Or if they keep it the same process, add those guys to the bottom of the Q sheet and us guys that actually show up to race, hey maybe someone is lucky enough to get the first round bye run! Just my opinion which is worth a piss hole in the snow.....

Well, at least you know the value of your opinion. NHRA divisions stopped using the requirement to make a pass after tech many years ago.

Hey Bruce I won't fault you. You played the game under the rules and were able to get in. We all should stop pointing fingers at each other and talk about the real problem. Anyone that has a grade point of 6 or more should be able to get into any National Event. They supported NHRA races at the Divisional level. To have a sixty car field at a National Event is a JOKE!!! I think that the Stock/SS racers are more than likely reaping the reward of taking so long to pair up........

We are responsible for these quotas. I have been telling people that this was coming for years. But most racers were not interested in getting together and at least attempting to push back against these obvious attempts to push us to the margins. NHRA has gotten away with victimizing the racers while blaming them for their actions. There were 626 sportsman racers at the Gators in the early 2000's and barring bad weather they always finished the races. We gave them an inch when Tom Compton took away our 4th qualifying round and now they have taken the proverbial mile. What to do now?

Ok could not sit here and not says anything about this topic., i will not pick at ea. person that posted on this, it's racing and should be FUN. Ok i agree with so many of ya.s about grade points Quota's for National events, its a circus and we all know and all it,s all about the WALLY. Ok Traveling, you guys south of the border have no idea about traveling, lets say Nova Scotia to Maple Grove 18 plus hrs ONE way, and figure out what it cost for fuel, and look at the entry list there normally is at least 20 to 30 Canadian cars there. Know talk about OPENS yes they have 6 in DIV 1. All doubles and here is the best part,Napierville race PAYS 5K US dollars ea.day CASH, last year i believe there was 48 cars. it takes 7 1/2 hrs from S.Jersey to get there, the track hooks so good, ya better have good sh(^ in it. For the border NO guns, or drugs, (that leaves 1/2 of the Americans out with the guns) lol . don't worry i pac and i leave mine at home. and fuel is no problem, so getting back to my point, if ya want to run the Circus, ya better get out and race these div. and opens, be safe everyone, see ya at some of the races. Add in that 4 of the D1 opens are in Canada and that hurts us too. I don't even want to hassle with border crossing with race fuel.
So we need out of division races to get to 8 or more
We have six division races and two national opens in Div 1 within the USA.

Actually, we have 7 Divisionals and 5 National Opens. 3 of the 5 Opens are double weekends (all in Canada), making 8 possible grade points on just Opens. Hit all of them and that's 15 grade points just in Division 1. From Eastern PA, I can get to all but Miramichi within a 375 mile tow. We have it good in Division 1.

Yup.. I predicted this would happen, over a year ago.
So ,where do we go from here? 15 gp's all from Div. 1 ? Easy enough, huh?
Likely... National events will become a millionaire's club, exclusively.
Unlikely .. Racer will again , read the charter and tell NHRA to go and pound sand ..Doubtful..Very doubtful.
